JTAG Hardware Debugger for octeon processor
Dileep Raj - June 13, 2012
Hi,
We are using one of the MontaVista Linux Edition base platform for one of our project requirement
using Cavium Octeon CN5860 processor. We are in need of a hardware debugger based on octeon
processor. We will be glad if you can suggest us a suitable hardware debugger.

Recommended JTAG debuggers
Hi Dileep
Try one of the following recommended JTAG debuggers.
BDI 3000
Jet Partner
Lauterbach
PARTNER-JET based Octeon Processor
Hi Vivek,
Thanks for your response. We are flexible with working on PARTNER-JET as the h/w debugger supports most of the MontaVista Linux editions & as I have checked the support for octeon processor based on PARTNER-JET from KMC site but i could not find any solution for octeon.
However, we want to go ahead with PARTNER-JET only as not much aware with other h/w debuggers.
Any alternative solution for PARTNER-JET will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dileep.
Try Lauterback(best of lot) or use BDI3000(better thn Jet)
Hi Dileep
Both, BDI 3000 and Lauterback, are better alternatives. But they may be more expensive than the one you are currently using. Therefore:
- If budget isn’t a constraint, then try Lauterback (the most expensive one of the lot.)
- If budget is a constraint but still want a better alternative, then try BDI 3000.
Regards,
Vivek Malhotra
