boot time optimization
I have seen davis anders video where he uses flyswatter2 to port linux kernel on to the pandaboard which takes hardly 2 sec .so iwanted to try that does anyone know hot to do that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhMhH5kEcGw
a)the process of boot time optimization where flyswatter2 will be usefull and how to reduce time to boot as less as 2 sec.
b)how flyswatter2 can be usefull debug a linux system ? and is flyswatter aware of linux debugging? And in the video he talks about the optimized bootloader...How can we do that ?
Thanks and Regards,

flyswatter2 and pandaboard
hi,
I recently brought a Arm jtag debugger from Tincantools and trying to use the same,But as davis anders showed us in an how we can connect the board and then port linux kernel on to the board directly from the jtag really fascinated me.But as i was trying to do the same it was quite difficult to even try and start it.First thing that i wanted to know in this discussion is
1.Is this ARM-Jtag Debugger helpfull for debugging linux platforms ?
2.Do we have a proper manual except from the tincantools wiki for the flyswatter2 ?
3.How well can we use it ?
4.Good instances where this will be helpfull in board bring up or Driver development ?
5.How can i use this Jtag debugger with android on the same ?
I am subjected to discussion on these criteria,I will be very thankfull to all the people who would join this discussion and solve, share the issues and also share the knowledge.
Thanks and Regards, More »
Boot problem with BeagleBoard-XM
Hello,
I'm trying to boot the BeagleBoard-XM Rev C with the pre-built image I downloaded from this site. For some reason, it doesn't boot. Has anyone tried it and suceeded with it?
Any suggestion & advice are greatly appreciated.
-- <Environment> --
1. Host machine: Ubuntu 10.04
2. Target board: BeagleBoard-XM Rev C
I'm pasting what I get in Minicom. It gets stuck at the line "Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel. "

Embedded linux Programming
Hi all,
I am new to embedded linux but have experiance working on Ti's ARM7 which does not include linux programming. Now I am into ARM9 and working on dealing with linux device drivers and application development. Can anyone let me know and guide me getting some hands on practical experiance and also what is the best way for starting any project at hand since linux is large so does the programming.Everything looks very complicated for me.
Any guidance will be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Prabhuraj Tavag
MVL6 on BeagleBoard-XM (v.A2) hangs at booting the kernel.
I've been trying to get MVIP going on my BeagleBoard-XM (A2) and have so far been unsuccessful. I followed the 'Booting MontaVista Linux 6 on the BeagleBoard' white paper, changing the MLO and u-boot.bin to the latest version.
Attempted to boot image: uImage-2.6.29-1103151715-ti-omap3-beagle.bin
Result:
U-Boot 2010.03 (Feb 20 2011 - 20:15:58)
OMAP3630/3730-GP ES1.0, CPU-OPP2, L3-165MHz,
OMAP3 Beagle board + LPDDR/NAND
I2C: ready
DRAM: 512 MB
NAND: 256 MiB
In: serial
Out: serial
Err: serial
Probing for expansion boards, if none are connected you'll see a harmless I2C error.
No EEPROM on expansion board

TinyOS or Contiki
Which one of the mentioned OSs (TinyOS and Contiki) would you suggest and why? The OS will be used on msp430 device which needs to have IPv6 support. This will be used in sensing application - nothing spectacular... just simple sensors... I'm really not sure which one to choose, both of them seem OKish...
How to use matchbox and Qt together?
Hi,
I would like to know how to use Qt and matchbox together. I have compiled Qt with frame bufffer support and matchbox is running on X server. It is working but some painting issues are coming. When we are trying to select a particular icon in Qt application, the match box desktop is responding, especially when some timer is running on Qt application
